Pointing Mortar

Slip-Point Pointing Mortar

Pointing mortar is an absolutely pivotal piece of equipment. It adds to the illusion that your brick slip project is in fact genuine brickwork.

How To Use Pointing Mortar

It is recommended that you use a a mortar gun to install your pointing mortar. This will allow the installation to be as quick and clean as possible. Using a clean mixing bucket, pour your full bag of pointing mortar in. From here, you’ll need to slowly add 4-5 litres of cold, clean water and thoroughly mix. You will know you have the right consistency if you add the mortar to the trowel, turn it upside down and the pointing mortar sticks to the trowel. Once it is ready, add the mortar to your pointing gun ensuring it is roughly three quarters full. Now just insert the plunger and you are ready to go! Carefully squeeze the trigger to give yourself a smooth consistent flow of pointing mortar, aiming for the centre and allowing the whole joint to fill before moving along.

The Technical Stuff

It is always our goal to provide our customers with only the very best. That is why we believe every brick slip project should be accompanied with Slip-Point pointing mortar. It has been tested against the elements and has proven to be frost resistant. A very useful trait to have for a winter in England! Furthermore, it also means you can use this pointing mortar for both internal and external projects. Slip-Point also conforms to BS7533. Another key benefit of this pointing mortar is that it can easily be mixed on site with just water. Furthermore, when used in unison with our brick slip spacers, our mortar will cover an area of 3m2 per bag. Slip-Point has been specifically designed to be used in a handheld mortar gun. It would however, still be possible to apply it using a traditional pointing trowel.
