After the brick slips themselves, adhesive is the most important part of the process! It could even be argued, that it is in fact THE most important. After all, without it there is not a lot you can actually do with the brick slips.
Whilst there are a lot of ways you can you apply the adhesive, there is only one way we’d recommend to you. You’ll first need to take a mixing bucket and pour half the bag of adhesive in. Next, you’ll need to add 2.5L of clean cold water slowly making sure to periodically mix the adhesive. Continue mixing until you get a smooth mixture. Using a notched trowel, take your mixture and apply it to the wall, spreading the adhesive over a small area at a time. If this is your first time, aim for around 1m2 to give yourself the best chance of success. Now, take your first brick slip and firmly push it into the adhesive. There should be enough grab from the adhesive to hold the slip in place. You should read the installation guide in full when installing your slips.
All our brick slips are only ever tested with our Slip-Fix adhesive. Because of this, we’d recommend you use this for your project. Slip-Fix is suitable for use in all weather conditions as it is frost resistant. This means it can be used for both internal and external projects. 1 20kg bag will cover an area of 4.25m2 when applied to a thickness of between 3-20mm. Furthermore, it can be used not only for brick slips but also for installing natural stone products. It is suitable for installing to a range of substrates including sand/cement render and brick and block work. You should encounter no issues with the product regardless of whether you are installing to your wall of your floor.
