Slip-Point is a specialist pointing mortar for Brick slips. It is designed for use by both DIY tradesman and the trade.
To apply Slip-Point to your project. you will need: mixing bucket, a mortar gun, clean water and a mixing paddle. You will start by adding the full content of your Slip-Point bag into the mixing bucket and slowly adding 3-4 litres of cold clean water. Using your mixing paddle, thoroughly mix the water and mortar for between 3-10 minutes. Do this until you have achieved the correct consistency. This can be checked by putting the mortar onto a trowel and turning it upside down. If the mortar doesn’t fall off the trowel, its ready! Now load the mortar into the gun, insert the plunger and begin pointing. Carefully squeeze the trigger to achieve a smooth consistent flow. Allow the mortar to fill the whole joint before moving along. Our Slip-Point mortar covers an area of around 3m². This will of course depend on how deep your mortar joints are.
Slip-Point conforms to BS7533 whilst having the convenience of being installed using a hand-held mortar gun. The light and pliable texture of Slip-Fix makes it fast and convenient to work with. It also ensures a reduction in labour costs compared to traditional pointing methods. Slip-Point has a 45 minute pot life so don’t prepare more than what you can use in this time. Furthermore, it is frost resistant so even through a cold winter your mortar will be able to hold firm. It’s important to note that this is not grout and therefore should NOT be applied in the same way as grout. If you spread the mortar over your brick slips like grout, you will find it extremely difficult to get it off. If you do manage to get it off, it’s likely that you will have wiped of a lot of the character of the brick with it.
