Corner brick slips are usually a necessity for most external projects. This is because if you are using brick slips on the outside of your house, it’s normally desirable for them to resemble real brickwork. The best way to achieve this is by using specially cut corner pieces. If you were to attempt to butt-joint to regular slips on an external corner it would ruin the look of genuine brickwork. Another instances which would the use of corners would be in fireplaces. Fireplaces from way back when used to be made from brick so the use of brick slip corners can help to achieve the traditional look you’re going for.
We only sell external corner brick slips and this is mainly for two reasons. The first of which being that internal corners are not necessary. Using two regular slips and a few clever cuts you can seamlessly blend two sides together. The other reason is the it isn’t actually possible to create an internal corner. This is because, as you will learn in the next paragraph, brick slip corners are made by cutting the external faces of a real brick. The inside of the brick is then discarded as it wouldn’t match what your regular slips look like.
Here at Slips From Stock we prefer to hand make our corner brick slips. This means you can be assured each one is of a high quality. One header and stretcher of the brick are cut from the rest of the brick to make the corner piece. Each brick only yields one corner piece making each one extremely valuable. As well as this, it also means each corner brick slip is unique. This allows each project to have its own special feel as it truly is one of a kind!
