Brick Slip Patterns

Birkdale Blend Herringbone brick slip Fireplace

Brick slip are not only versatile in the sense they can be installed anywhere, but also that they can be installed in any pattern! The sky is the limit when it comes to how your project looks. There are numerous different options available to you. Some that aren’t even covered in this article! The best part is they all look absolutely stunning.

Stretcher Bond

Whilst many people know what the stretcher bond looks like, it is instantly recognisable by everyone. This is the standard laying pattern for projects using brick slip and even genuine full bricks. You can never really go wrong with this pattern for your brick slip. Whilst it is simple it is extremely effective in keeping up the façade of real brick work. Having the effect of real brick work, is one of the major pull factors for most people when choosing to install brick slips. If this describes you, the stretcher bond is certainly a route you should consider!

Brick Slip Herringbone Pattern

The herringbone pattern is a great way to style your brick slip. You can see in our featured image how one customer used the herringbone pattern beautifully with our Birkdale Blend brick slip. The herringbone pattern is an arrangement of rectangles. It received its name due to its resemblance to the bones of a herring fish. When installing brick slip in a herringbone pattern, you’ll likely need to cut a few of the slips of the slips in order to keep the effect going at the edges. If you end up having a few brick slip broken during delivery it can help you achieve your desired pattern. Because, another option you have, is to utilise some of the slips that may have been broken during transition. These may need some help from a tile cutter to neaten the edges.
