At least this is the case most of the time, if you have a brick finish external or a plastered, plasterboard or painted finish internally generally speaking, there is no need to add an extra layer to your walls at extra expense before adding brick slips.
Our adhesive has been designed to fix to almost any surface and therefore applying brick slips directly to your walls without preparation is perfectly fine. The exception to this would be poor surfaces. For example if your surface is very bumpy, out of shape has loose debris or is not sound then you may want to consider finding these issues before installing brick slips. It is important to bare in mind that brick slips will follow the natural contour of your walls, if you wall is bowed your brick slip wall will follow etc.
