This is especially the case if you are using Fireplace Brick slips

You can install brick slips indoors and outdoors but cleaning them isn’t as daunting as it might sound.

So, How Do You Clean Brick Slips?

Wether they are brick tiles installed in your kitchen or, Fireplace Brick Slips Don’t be put off by thinking that you need to get professionals in to do this because you don’t!. The surface of brick slips look and feel like real bricks, which means that they are textured and porous. This means that they are susceptible to dirt and grime, both of which can be removed extremely easily. All it takes is the right preparation and time and you can bring your brick slips back to life.

What Will You Need?

Don’t worry, you’re not going to need to spend a fortune on cleaning products because you’re quite likely to have all of the required materials at home. If you don’t, they can be purchased at a low cost. So, what will you need to take care of the job?:

  • Sponge
  • Bucket
  • Mild washing up liquid
  • Duster
  • Hard Wire brush
  • Table salt
  • Hoover

As you can see, you are more than likely to have most of these at home, which means that the job is going to cost you very little!

Time to Get Cleaning

With the materials ready to go, it’s time to begin. Begin by wiping the brick tiles using the duster to remove debris and dust. Now add 1 part mild washing up liquid and 1 part salt into the buck before adding lukewarm water and mixing thoroughly.

With your cleaning solution ready to go, you can use your sponge to apply it to your brick slips before using the scrubbing brush to gently work the solution into the wall – don’t go overboard with the technique, gentle is key.

You can now leave the solution for 15 minutes to do its work before using a damp cloth or sponge to wipe the solution from the walls. Make sure you rinse the sponge or cloth using clean lukewarm water.

With all of the solution removed, you will need to give the brick tiles time to  dry. Should you see any remains of the cleaning solution, continue following the wiping process using a damp sponge and clean lukewarm water.

Your brick slips are an integral part of your home, regardless of whether they are installed internally or externally. However, to keep them looking bright and clean, it pays to invest time cleaning them every 6-12 months to ensure they stand the test of time.

Alternatively should you opt to seal your brick slips with our sealer it can protect the surface from many of these elements. Better yet, you only ever need to seal our brick tiles with our sealer once!
