Installing brick slips is a simple process. You’ll find it quick and painless if you follow our guide, even if you have limited DIY knowledge!

We have an extremely detailed, installation guide available that we are sure you’ll find very useful. But for now we are just going to keep it short and sweet to give you a basic idea on what you’re doing. First let’s discuss the tools you will need.

Tools For Installing Brick Slips:

Now you have all the instruments you’ll need when installing brick slips, let me give you a quick run through on what you’ll need to do.

To start you will need to prepare your wall. It’s important to have a dust free wall to allow your the effectiveness of your adhesive. This is the stage where you utilise the PVA.

After this you’ll need to set out and plan where each slip will go. Towards the edges of the wall you’ll likely have to cut some of your slips to ensure they fit so planning is critical.

Following this, you’ll ned to mix your adhesive with water in your mixing bucket. Using your trowel, apply the adhesive to the wall once its mixed. If this is your first time installing brick slips try not apply too much at once.

Now stick your brick slip firmly and evenly into the adhesive. It is crucial to use the right adhesive. Click here to find out which one you should be using. It would be a good idea to use a laser or a rope to make sure you are keeping a straight line when installing your brick slips.

Once your slips have been stuck to the wall, use your mortar gun to apply the mortar into the gaps between your slips. We also have a blog available about mortar to aid you in choosing the correct one.

When the mortar has dried its likely there will be some residue left on the slips, this is easily cleaned using the wire brush. Once you have cleaned your brick slips we’d recommend you use our brick slip sealer to lock in the pristine look of your new feature wall. Please don’t use the sealer before you have cleaned the slips as any dust will become trapped and thus difficult to get rid of.
